Overall Impressions: I absolutely loved it from start to finish. Caleb Azumah Nelson is officially my favorite author after penning two unforgettable books back to back. This was a masterpiece and heart warming book; full of all the feels and more, telling a story that is quite familiar especially to African immigrants living in Western worlds. The difference in this familiar story is the care with which Nelson approaches it, each word and sentence chosen with intention and thoughtfulness. This story was quite healing and I thoroughly appreciated the authenticity of the author especially in handling the parts about Ghana. There was no hint of pretentiousness at all. I absolutely enjoyed how musically rich it was too, full of quality music I found myself playing in the background to enrich the reading experience.
Something that stood out: the sheer POETRY of his writing style. His love for his craft and art form oozes through so beautifully.
Overall Rating:🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋 (out of 5 fountain pens).
Recommend or nah: I absolutely recommend it without any reservations at all. It’s a fantastic read.
